The New York Observer is looking for interns for the winter/spring semester (January - May).
The Observer's newsroom boasts a unique and tightly-knit culture that benefits from the energy and fearlessness of young reporters as well as from the experience and wisdom of editors. Interns are integrated into this environment, and into the weekly production cycle of the paper, where they have the opportunity to gain invaluable reporting and general newsroom experience. On deadline, interns are charged with fact-checking articles as they move from writer to editor to copy desk to production. Off deadline, interns are encouraged to become acquainted with editors and writers, get involved in longer-term projects, and do their own reporting and writing for the paper and its website, observer.com.
Applicants should have strong writing and reporting skills and some experience working in a newsroom (yes, school publications count, although experience at a professional paper or magazine is preferable). All interns must be available to work a minimum of two days (or 16 hours) per week.
PBS's newest newsmagazine show is seeking a talented journalism intern for its daily website.
The web intern will: assist web editors with story research, booking, social media outreach, posting video, and a variety of tasks related to running the site, as well as short writing assignments. Interns with a broadcast journalism focus might also shoot and edit video.
The ideal candidate has proven reporting and writing skills and great story ideas. We are seeking someone who really gets the web and wants to write for a web audience. The ability to shoot video and a strong working knowledge of Final Cut Pro are pluses. Boundless enthusiasm a must.
This is a solid hands-on internship in which to develop job skills and start to build a portfolio.
The internship is unpaid but can be done for credit, lasts three months, and requires at least 15 hours a week.

This internship runs in conjunction with The Istanbul Project http://ieimedia.com/blog/the-istanbul-project a taught program in foreign reporting in Istanbul. Interns stay in program accommodations, and are welcome, though not obligated, to attend all classes and program activities. They also receive reporting guidance, and any other necessary assistance, from program faculty.
Interns for the Book Bench, the literary blog of The New Yorker magazine, write book reviews and other book-related items, conduct author interviews, report on literary events, and assist in aggregation and ideas generation. The internship pays a stipend of $12/day, with a minimum requirement of two days a week. They work closely with one of the magazine's editors. New York Daily News seeks part-time spring interns for the features department. Candidates need not have experience at a daily publication, but should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, multitask and think on their feet. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn how a daily works. Interns will be responsible for updating events on our website, calendar listings, image research, call-ins for fashion spreads, organization/assistance during fashion week, working with our photo desk, writing our wedding column, some street reporting, plus plenty of other tasks once interns prove they can handle them. The position is unpaid but students will receive school credit and valuable experience. The internship is for Spring.
The Chronicle of Higher Education offers three internship sessions each year: winter/spring, summer, and fall.
