We seek an accomplished journalist/writer to provide timely, smartly written analyses and summaries
of the most important legal news stories of the day, from court rulings and government enforcement
actions to high-profile litigation. The successful candidate must have excellent news judgment,
familiarity and deep interest in legal subjects, and the ability to write about often-complex issues in a
clear, concise, and sophisticated manner.
This is not an entry-level position. To be considered, you must provide a writing sample, preferably

Law Firm Reporter for The New York Law Journal

The New York Law Journal is seeking a Law Firm Reporter. This reporter will have the opportunity to cover the legal profession as it responds to economic, technological and global challenges. The ideal reporter for this position will be interested in and familiar with the economics of the legal profession (hourly bills, contingent fees, lockstep and performance-based pay, etc.), differences among major practice areas (litigation, M & A, bankruptcy, private equity, intellectual property, etc.), hiring practices and major concepts of legal ethics (conflicts, privilege, etc.). The reporter must understand the pecking order of New York law firms and how their status correlates with client lists and practice strengths. The reporter must be able to interpret trends in law firm business, including the effects of the current economic downturn on the entire legal market in New York, including firms, government, the non- profit sector and law schools. This reporter will also keep track of developments in the economics mid-size law firms.

The law firm reporter is also be responsible for finding and following litigation involving lawyers or law firms as plaintiffs or defendants, and report on attorney disciplinary proceedings. A talent for writing decisions on a myriad of legal topics and covering live civil and criminal court proceedings is essential.

The beat requires an aggressive reporter accustomed to daily deadlines. Competition mainly comes from the top newspapers in the country, the New York Times, and Wall Street Journal as well as a growing host of blogs.

Position Overview:
The Associate Producer is responsible for working with host and producer to produce WGBH's daily public affairs show, The Callie Crossley Show. Make story pitches and develop those pitches for broadcast. Select, contact, and schedule program guests. Gather background materials for host. Update web content. Gather and edit audio material for program for air and Web. Screen callers for live broadcast. As needed, the producer will perform all necessary tasks as director during the broadcast, including, cuing host, cuing engineer, greeting and preparation of program guests and coordination with technical help. Perform all administrative duties as assigned. Book segment, pre-interview guests, follow through on story development from a pitch to the actual radio conversation. Requirements Overview:
