The primary responsibility of this position is coordinating editorial material for the above television programs, speeches and global events.

This is also an editorial responsibility: you will be the coordinator who works directly with him to insure he has the guests, ideas, materials and insights from all sources for his demanding responsibilities.

The job requires person-to-person skills to coordinate with a talented staff of producers and editors, a full command of social media, and a genuine curiosity about the ideas and people that daily shape our world.

French Canadian Host

We’re looking for French Canadian speakers who are fluent and have an on-air presence about them to be reporters/hosts. The job is freelance/part-time and in most situations can take no more than 3 total hours to do. There is also an opportunity for anyone who might want to be a copy-editor. This job can be done remotely and just requires reliability and a nuanced understanding of the language. Assistant Editor (temporary)

Responsibilities
• Under the supervision of the Senior Editor, Content and Programming, program landing pages using the CMS; edit the highlighted content; and proof live pages
• Work with Designers to have images and touts created for promoted content
• Program video using the CMS
• Edit existing site content to improve formatting, fix any errors, and improve clarity and quality of writing
• Contribute to special programs and team initiatives
• Work with the rest of the editorial team to constantly improve the quality of content on the website
• Liaise with freelancers, interns, and other Scholastic divisions as appropriate
• Reply to website customer queries as required
• Work with the team to develop and achieve team objectives and plans

Qualifications
• Experience in magazine, newspaper or online editorial preferred
• Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
• Must possess excellent writing and proofreading skills
• Must have the ability to work well under pressure, meet aggressive deadlines, and find solutions to problems
• Must possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Producer, Broadcast (Initiatives)

Position Overview

The Producer, Broadcast (Initiatives) works with the Senior Producer and the rest of the Production Department to produce content related to StoryCorps initiatives, to air regularly on NPR. The Producer also creates other audio content to promote the project, including promos and edited segments for internal and external use. Additionally, the Producer assists in the creation of production schedules and broadcast plans, researches, pitches, and records StoryCorps interviews, and manages and prioritizes tape coming in through various StoryCorps recording sites. Producers are also responsible for editing staff and interns.

StoryCorps tells stories from an inclusive range of American voices – with programs and initiatives including including OutLoud, a new initiative that collects the voices of the LGBTQ community, StoryCorps Griot to preserve stories of African Americans, StoryCorps Historias to collect the experiences of Latinos, and our National Teachers Initiative and Military Voices Initiative, focused on stories of America’s teachers and post-9/11 military, respectively. Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 3 years of work experience in producing audio for broadcast and the web
Demonstrated expertise in non-linear, narrative, digital editing, including mixing music and audio
Demonstrated research skills and journalistic instinct
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated experience working as part of a team in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment
Willingness and ability to travel nationally, at minimum 4 times per year
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in order to contribute to problem-solving activities within a growing, changing organization
Cultural competence/humility and the ability to work successfully with diverse groups of people
Belief and interest in the mission of StoryCorps

Preferred:

Experience producing for a national audience; a history of producing narratorless stories is also a plus
