BBC Communications Intern

Assist the Communications team in the areas of events, public relations and communications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Aid in the coordination and archival of the daily press summary.
2. Coordinate mailings to influencers, award campaign judges and others.
3. Help with updating the BBC Worldwide Corporate press sites via our CMS.
4. Assist where needed with event planning, organization, presentations, etc.
5. Maintain and create contact lists through Cision.
6. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Highly-organized with the ability to multi-task.
2. Strong work ethic.
3. Creative thinker with good use of initiative.
4. Microsoft Office Suite (including PowerPoint).
5. Internet-savvy.
6. Photoshop skills a plus.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Eligible for College credit.

Editorial Intern

The Lives of Men is an integrated media and lifestyle company dedicated to creating content and experiences focused on topics most relevant to people of color.

We are currently looking for interns who specialize in fields such as writing, graphic design, and photography. This is an opportunity to work with an innovative startup company and with a wide range of veterans in digital media, finance, advertising, and photography.

Requirements:

* Work with the founder, editorial director, and rest of the team on a daily basis to conceptualize and execute content ideas.
* Knowledge of social media and content management platforms.

* Attend weekly editorial meetings on Wednesday and Sunday evening.

Editorial Internships

The Observer is looking to fill several editorial internship positions across multiple departments including:

Photography
Observer is currently seeking a photo intern, available two days a week. This internship will be a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and to acquire some invaluable skills. The intern will work closely with the photo editor, creative director and production department, and job duties will include but are not limited to: photo research and acquisition, scanning, photo retouching and organization of photos for web and print publication. The ideal candidate will have a background in photography, strong organizational skills, and familiarity with Mac OS, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. We also send qualified interns on photo assignments—a great opportunity for a young photographer to get his or her work published and seen by a large readership. College credit is required.

PR/Social Media
Observer.com hires digital interns on a semesterly basis in the fall, spring and summer. Current openings include a position with our audience development team, reporting to the audience development manager. Former interns have gone on to be hired full time at Observer, as well as at The New York Times, New York magazine, The New Republic and many other publications.

Position: Online media intern
Commitment: At least one full day (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) per week
Compensation: College credit required

Responsibilities may include:
– Assisting with management of Observer’s social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, etc.
– Helping to design and execute promotional events and giveaways that will increase readership and brand awareness.
– Creating lists of media outlets to pitch and helping to craft pitches.
– Managing site traffic data and formatting it into easily digestible reports.
– Updating site elements, including but not limited to related links, slide shows and story tags.

Note: This is not an editorial internship. Interns will not be given reporting assignments. However, there will be plenty of opportunities for creative thinking and copywriting.

Qualifications:
– Eligible for college credit.
– Ability to spend at least one full day per week at our Manhattan office; there may be opportunities to do some work remotely.
– Passion for online media, social media and business development.
– Basic understanding of HTML and Google Analytics are useful but not required.
– Willingness to learn quickly.
– Desire to take on responsibility and provide creative suggestions.
– Experience in media/online business preferred but not required.

German Accelerator Tech is looking for a self-starter to join our team in New York City. The Marketing & Operations Associate will work hands-on with a selection of the best German tech startups and develop opportunities with the German Accelerator Tech team to aid, improve, and run the daily tasks of an accelerator. This role is a great starting point for people looking to get into venture capital, accelerators and incubators in a fast-moving, international environment.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Research and create content to be posted on our website as well as multiple social media channels
- Assist in keeping German Accelerator website and social media channels up to date
- Organize local events that connect GA with the startup community and mentors
- Assist Head of Operations as point of contact in New York City between GA offices, mentors, and its sponsors/partners
- Update documents for startups, provide help to startups before/during/after their program participation
- Assist in creating daily/monthly/quarterly/annual analyses and monitoring
- Initiate changes to operational procedures, where applicable, ensuring consistency with regulatory requirements and corporate guidelines
- Perform a variety of ad-hoc tasks, such as coordinating meetings and attending conferences

Requirements
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Excellent language skills (oral and written) in English (German is a plus)
- Background in journalism, marketing, or similar, ideally with experience creating content for a magazine, blog or other publication
- Eager to learn and present creative PR & marketing ideas
- Entrepreneurial mindset and strong interest in tech startup scene
- Ability to condense large amounts of information into clear and concise content pieces

This is a paid, non-credit media-related internship.

Browse the web daily for the latest trending content; identify unique and quality articles for daily push notifications in our app; rate websites, blogs and other sources based on content quality and popularity in our database; fix broken content inside our app using our editing tool, and filing the issue appropriately; identify quality trending and upcoming websites, blogs, social media accounts; use mobile apps regularly for news, video and content consumption; brainstorm ideas how TopBuzz can cover future events.

We are looking for interns to work 4-5 days a week (if weekdays, then at our office, if weekends, then remotely), that are willing to commit for at least 6 months, with a possibility of advancement in the company.
