Policy Research Intern

The Center for an Urban Future (CUF) seeks interns with experience in journalism or public policy research to support our work. Responsibilities can include extensive phone interviews, Web research, data analysis, and writing. Other duties include coordinating meetings with government officials and attending policy meetings.

Skills and attributes we seek are:
• Strong writing and oral communications skills
• Ability to synthesize ideas clearly and concisely
• Ability to conduct effective interviews over the phone and in person

Paid Journalism Management Intern

Unique opportunity for someone interested in broadcasting and HR/Management. The Director of the News Associate and Internship Programs is seeking a spring intern to help with multiple projects including creating website content, taking photos of interns and news associates for the sites, revamping the social media accounts, updating databases of former interns and news associates, and various other things. Must be social media savvy, a good writer, be creative, and be familiar with various websites and software that can increase office workflow. Can be given a task with limited parameters and lots of possibilities while keeping the end goal in mind and have the ability to be resourceful to get to that goal somewhat independently.

Senior Content Specialist Internship

The Senior Content Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of content marketing initiatives. They lead the collection, production, and editing of website material to maintain and improve the quality of information provided for web property visitors.

They will work closely with the Marketing Strategy Director to develop content plans, high-quality engaging content. They will also work closely with the Senior SEO Specialist and Senior Social Media Specialist in development and implementation processes.

For the right candidate, there will be growth opportunities to build out their own team, who will help facilitate the following duties of the Senior Content Specialist position. Upon successful performance, this position has the opportunity to mentor entry-mid level specialists and strategists and act as a team lead to the Content department.

Position Responsibilities:
Oversees and manages the execution and monitoring of content plans

Recommended Prerequisites:

Must have strong written communication skills - attention to detail is a must
WordPress or other CMS experience required

ROOSTERGNN Global News Network (RGNN.org), a non-profit organization, and ROOSTERGNN Academy are OFFERING,

Intensive Digital Marketing & Social Media Internship Seminars, based in Madrid, Spain.

During the Internship Seminar, students participate in an intensive digital marketing and social media program, coordinated by a Team of Experts and Mentors. The program includes participation at Marketing Meetings, interactive Marketing and Social Media Workshops, Mentoring Sessions and Feedback Sessions, all of which culminates in the creation of a portfolio of viral content (texts, images, videos), adapted for the web and social media. The work submitted by the students will be presented to the Marketing Board of the agency for publication, if applicable.

All of the Experts and Mentors are bilingual (English & Spanish). To participate in the Seminars, it is required that students have knowledge of at least ONE of these languages. Students can choose to write their articles in English, Spanish or both.
The selection process is rigorous and includes an interview for all candidates of interest.

The Internship Seminar offers students the possibility to graduate with a Portfolio of Published Content, published in the agency, a Digital Marketing & Social Media Internship Certification, a Certification of Academic Credit, as well as a Letter of Recommendation of Merit, if applicable.

The Internship Seminar includes housing in shared studio apartments in the central Salamanca neighborhood of Madrid, Spain.

CONTENT. Each Two-Week Module includes the following content, which must be completed in order to obtain curricular benefits as detailed below.

Specialization. Seminar specializing in Digital Marketing and Social Media.
Attendance at Orientation, where the academic requirements are explained.
Attendance at ROOSTERGNN Marketing Meetings. One Marketing Meeting per Two-Week Module, in which each student is assigned one (1) viral piece of content and one (1) portfolio of videos and photographs.
Attendance at Group Mentoring Sessions. One Mentoring Session per Two-Week Module, to discuss the progress of students on their pieces and portfolios.
Attendance at Group Feedback & Editing Sessions. Three Group Feedback & Editing Sessions per Two-Week Module. Each student will receive verbal feedback on the pieces of content and portfolios assigned during the Marketing Meetings. All student work must be received by the deadline indicated by RGNN in order to be eligible for Feedback.
Submit Viral Content Portfolio. The Internship Seminar culminates in the creation of portfolio of viral content (texts, images, videos), adapted for the web and social media. The work submitted by the students will be presented to the Marketing Board of the agency for publication, if applicable.
Participate in Digital Marketing and Social Media Workshops with Experts and Mentors. Four (4) Workshops per Two-Week Module, addressing the following areas:
One (1) Digital Marketing Workshop.
One (1) Professional Development for Digital Marketers and Social Media Managers Session. Advice will be given on, for example, how to put together a resume, how to apply for future journalism jobs, how to prepare for a job interview, etc.
Two Photography & Video Workshops, adapted for social media, filming with mobile devices and especially, for Instagram. These Workshops will take place on the streets of Madrid, allowing students to learn how to create content alongside an Expert, all while exploring the different neighborhoods of the Spanish capital.
Participate in the Professional Headshot and Video Shoot.
Students will go behind the scenes at RGNN and have a professional headshot and video session at the RGNN film and photo studio. Marketers today must be able to speak in front of the camera! Specifically, students will take home a professional “headshot” (profile photo) for their resume, and will carry out a video presentation test on an established topic.
Submit a Final Seminar Evaluation. All students will be required to submit a final Evaluation before the end of the Seminar.

EXPERTS AND MENTORS. The Seminar includes the collaboration of prestigious Experts and Mentors.

CULTURAL IMMERSION IN MADRID AND SPAIN. Participate in the Cultural Immersion Program. The Internship Seminar includes one Site Visit per week, as well as a Typical Spanish Tapas Networking Farewell Reception at the end of the program. Site Visits can include for example, Matadero Madrid, one of Madrid’s most innovative cultural centers, and or the marketing department of an important multinational company.

HOUSING. The Internship Seminar includes housing in furnished studio apartments selected by RGNN in the central neighborhood of Salamanca in Madrid, Spain. Thirteen (13) nights. Housing is shared in double apartments (2 individual beds). Each studio apartment has its own bathroom and kitchen, air-conditioning, as well as weekly cleaning and change of sheets and towels. The building moreover has wifi, 24 hour concierge, laudromat and dryer room, swimming pool and sundeck. The entry of persons foreign to the Program is not permitted in the houses. Alcohol within the apartments is also not permitted. RGNN will assign accommodation. The dates in which housing will be available are:

CURRICULAR AND ACADEMIC BENEFITS.

Students will be evaluated continually throughout the Program, and remaining enrolled in the Internship Program will be necessarily linked to the student’s compliance of a minimum set of goals within the Program as subject to the Tuition.

Completing the goals of the Program allows students to obtain the following academic or curricular documentation.

• Certification of Portfolio of Published Content. The portfolio of conent submitted by the students will be sent to the Marketing Board for publication, if applicable.
• Internship Certification specializing in Digital Marketing and Social Media.
• Certification of Academic Credit. Students who have met all requirements of the Program obtain a Certification of Academic Credit. ROOSTERGNN will certify a total of eighty (80) hours of academic credit per Two-Week Module.
• Processing of University Agreements (Convenios) and/or other External Academic Documentation for Academic Credit (optional and subject to approval by RGNN). Those students who wish to request the processing of university agreements (convenios) and/or other external academic documentation for academic credit for their university must submit all such documentation by the deadline indicated by RGNN. No requests for external academic documentation will be processed after this deadline.

Completing more than one Two-Week Module allows students to obtain the following academic or curricular documentation.

1 Letter of Recommendation of Merit. There are three levels of evaluation that permit obtaining a Letter of Recommendation: Sufficient, Good, Excellent. There will be no Letter of Recommendation for students who do not meet the Sufficient level. The Experts and Mentors of the Seminar will conduct the evaluation of merit.

ROOSTERGNN follows a strict evaluation process for issuing academic and/or curricular documentation. Students must have completed all requirements of the Program to obtain any type of academic and/or curricular documentation.

Video Production and Photography Intern

This position is for the creative wizards out there who love to eat and capture food/drinks. It will have more of a “freelance” creative feel, as the selected intern will go out to restaurants and events to shoot photos and video of food all around the city. The selected intern will also have duties in video production (putting together scripts with me, doing research, organizing shoots), shooting video and editing. Every video piece you work on will have your name on it for your own portfolio. You will be doing most of your work from home or out in the field on shoots.

- Must be available at least 2 days a week and some weeknight evenings
- Must have video and photography experience
- Major in photography, journalism (with a focus in broadcast), production, film, etc.
