PEOPLE magazine is looking for an intern to work closely with its beauty and style editors. The ideal intern is a resourceful, independent person who jumps right in and becomes part of the staff—an aspiring beauty/style writer with a passion for and at least some experience in the beauty or fashion industries.

The intern will report and quickly write online stories—and fact check and research stories for the weekly magazine, often under intense deadline pressure. He/she will also help keep the beauty and fashion closets organized, helping to manage the influx of all samples and products.

The intern should have worked at a campus publication and/or in a beauty- or style-related field—and be a creative thinker, a self-starter, professional, resourceful and a team player. Strong writing skills are a must. The intern must also be enthusiastic and see the big picture but pay close attention to detail, too—a thinker and a doer. He/she must also like working in a fast-paced, news-driven environment and feel comfortable using Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as reporting tools.

Because of the nature of news, some late evening and weekend work may be required. This is a full-time internship opportunity open to current students and recent grads. Candidates should be available a minimum of 25 hours per week.

Fall Writing Paid Intern, Spectrum

Spectrum is seeking an intern to report and write articles for the Spectrum site. This is an excellent opportunity for a beginning science journalist to cover the fast-moving field of autism. This is a paid internship (20 to 24 hour-per-week). The internship is expected to start in September 2022 and will last 3-4 months. The internship will take place at the Simons Foundation's New York City office.

You will learn how to report and write articles that educate, challenge and inspire our audience of scientists, and you'll leave with a collection of great clips. A background or strong interest in neuroscience, genetics, cognition and behavior is essential.

Summer Paid Intern (US-based, East Coast)

Factal, a breaking news startup based in Seattle, is offering two paid summer internships for students or recent graduates looking to build a career in digital journalism, with a priority for applicants in the New York and Seattle area. Under this program, an intern will help run a real-time breaking news feed, gathering and verifying reports from around the world. Students work in a forward-thinking newsroom experimenting with unique digital products and with part of a small team of editors based out of Seattle, New York and London whose backgrounds vary from BBC, CBS, Agence France-Presse, HuffPost and Bloomberg News.

This is a part-time paid internship of 24-28 hours per week at $18 an hour, and would include evenings and weekends. It is open to college juniors, seniors, and graduating seniors, as well as graduate students. Experience working as an editor or reporter in a newsroom, or past internships, is preferred. An ideal candidate would:

Be located in New York City or in the Eastern Time Zone and open to remote work

POLITICO: Summer Editorial Internship, New York

POLITICO is seeking a summer intern for its New York City bureau.

Internship Dates: June 7 – Sept. 2

What You’ll Do:

Work with our New York Playbook team to write and produce our daily newsletter on politics in the nation’s largest city.
The intern will be involved in all aspects of content creation and production, including research, reporting, writing, editing and aggregating. A significant amount of this work will be in early morning hours.
Contribute to the reporting of a dynamic team covering policy and politics of New York City for both in-state and national audiences.

This 10-week PBS NewsHour summer fellowship was created in honor of award-winning anchor, reporter, and author Gwen Ifill, the former PBS NewsHour co-anchor and managing editor and Washington Week moderator and managing editor. The Fellow participates in the development and production of the PBS NewsHour. Primary responsibilities as assigned by the Associate Line Producer will be to: research national, international, and political news stories; gather editorial information and video elements; cover live events; generate story ideas; copy edit; assist with video editing; and produce broadcast and web content.

Metro/Business Reporting Internships Spring and Summer 2022

The Las Vegas Review-Journal is offering two spring Metro reporting internships, two summer Metro reporting internships and a summer Business reporting internship. We’re looking for ambitious, inquisitive and enthusiastic reporters who are eager to use shoe leather and help cover breaking news in this vibrant city while contributing impactful enterprise.

Our ideal candidates are recent college graduates who have completed at least one previous internship or have experience working for a college publication or other professional news organization. We’re especially interested in applicants who speak fluent Spanish. Candidates should be able to generate original story ideas, handle breaking news assignments, shoot video and be active on all social media platforms.

Start and end dates for the internships are flexible, but we’re looking for candidates who are able to work between 10 and 16 weeks in the spring and between 10 and 12 weeks in the summer.

Post-Production Intern

Ark Media is looking for a post-production intern for the Winter (Jan-March), to assist with research and archival on one of our feature documentary projects. The intern would be working in tandem with the film's Archival Researcher to conduct archival research, organization, and logging. The role would also include a bit of character research and shoot prep.

An understanding or background in contemporary U.S. politics and foreign policy, along with experience in journalism or documentary filmmaking is a plus.

Scheduling is flexible, but ideally 3 times a week for 6-8hrs each day. You must be in school and receive school credit– the position also comes with a daily stipend. Position starts the week of January 3rd.
