Unpaid Contributor: Financial and Personal Finance News

We are looking for journalism students to contribute news articles and features to our sites: allrates.com and investing.com.

We're interested in a wide variety of content: from money diaries to interviews with personal finance gurus to people who are making their money work in extreme situations, whether that be traveling the globe or as a single mother of three.

We're also interested in looking at how government policy affects people's everyday money-making decisions. When the federal rate rises, what does that mean for people's mortgages, for example? If the Affordable Care Act comes to an end, how much more or less will the average person be spending on healthcare?

Students will be working with experienced editors of more than 10 years' standing, who will hone their copy and educate them on every element of the reporting process from pitching to researching to writing and editing.

Freelance Reporter

We are looking for a freelance reporter interested in the commercial art industry to take on assignments and/or pitch stories 1-4 times a month for use in both print and online.

We are *not* necessarily looking for traditional "art reporters!" We are more interested in your reporting and writing skills than the depth of your knowledge about stuff like Picasso's blue period (although if you do know about that, or even just have a desire to learn about it, great!).

This beat would be perfect for someone who wants to publish stories like:
• How Trump has created a new tax loophole for art collectors
• The rise of art-secured lending: is it a bubble about to burst?
• Blockchain technology and transparency in the art market
• Art dealers found guilty of tax fraud and backdated invoicing
•Shady third-party deals in auction houses, such has the recent $450 million-dollar sale of Da Vinci's Salvator Mundi

The best candidates will have the following:
• Strong clips as a business reporter, including a mix of breaking news and analysis
• Strong reporting and writing skills
• An appreciation for or interest in art of any era or genre

Candidates based in New York City are preferable but applications are encouraged regardless of location.

Writer Wanted

Writing Position ($6000-$15,000 for the project)
Historic Fiction Novel-- The Boom Boom Room Sexual Harassment Class Action Suit of 1996 is the backdrop

Seeking a collaborator, and/or editor to help write a historic fiction- novel using the Boom Boom Room class action suite against Smith Barney in 1996 which at the time was the largest sex discrimination lawsuit in history against a Wall Street firm, as the back drop for the time period. The author, a female, spent 25 years at Smith Barney reaching the highest levels of achievement as an investment advisor. In 1996, she was the first woman in 100 years to gross over $1 million dollars to make the Directors Council, the top 5% of revenue producers among 12,000 advisors. After the glass ceiling was shattered, she was the first woman co-chair of the prestigious Directors Advisory Board, comprised of only 12 advisors out of 12,000, that was hand picked by the then President of Smith Barney, Jamie Dimon, who is currently the CEO of JPMorgan.

The book is loosely based on the characters and stories that happened to the author. The author will not use her name, nor any of the real names of the characters in the book. The book's ”concept” seeks a fast paced, entertaining story against a factually correct historical backdrop to articulate what it was like for women to work in a high powered Wall Street firm in the1990’s. The novel is not a “name and blame” but rather an attempt to articulate a balanced view that includes both good and bad. The author has already written in detail all the characters, timelines and over 300 pages of material that can be used as a starting point. Seeking approximate 200-300 hours of work. The fee to complete this project will range from $6,000-$15,000 depending on experience. Seeking someone to start immediately. The author is an MFA Columbia Graduate.
