Editorial Intern

The Deal seeks editorial interns for immediate help on a high profile reporting project. You will have the opportunity to support our corporate dealmaker team as we conduct detailed research on top public and private companies. This is a great opportunity to hone your reporting & research skills as you work alongside experienced editors & reporters in The Deal newsroom. Through the internship, you will also make invaluable contacts at top tier S&P 500 companies.

-Text and visual materials about the condition of the American food and agriculture, both good and bad, including the abuses of industrial monoculture and food processing and efforts to restore traditional farming and traditional (or better than traditional) food crafts.

-Text and visual materials about the history and evolution of American foods, dishes and cooking, including current and innovative developments.

-Recipes and meals, especially focused on seasonal availability and calendar events.

-Pieces on Bubby’s people, dishes, methods, suppliers and events.

The Overseas Press Club’s Freedom of the Press Committee is looking for a spring contributor to assist with documenting and publicizing attacks on the press worldwide in articles for the web site, letters to foreign governments and through social media. The contributor will be invited to attend the annual awards ceremony on April 25, 2012, and paid $500.

The Overseas Press Club was founded in 1939 in New York by a group of foreign correspondents. The OPC seeks to maintain an international association of journalists working in the United States and abroad; to encourage the highest standards of professional integrity and skill in the reporting of news; to help educate a new generation of journalists; to contribute to the freedom and independence of journalists and the press throughout the world, and to work toward better communication and understanding among people.

Contributors will research and write pieces for the OPC website, based on published and online sources, covering current stories and controversies of interest to OPC members. Contributors will use social media to discuss press freedom issues and raise the OPC profile.

Our ideal candidate is interested in international journalism, familiar with news programming and current events, uses social media. He or she has strong research and writing skills, is well organized and detail oriented, mature and responsible, and can work independently.

The OPC internship runs for 12 weeks, starting on Feb. 20 through May 11, 2012. We require approximately 5-7 hours a week of work. The intern will be paid $500 at the end of the internship.

Creatives sought to help build an online and hard-copy version of a news-magazine. The magazine will examine project is expected to run approximately three months.

The premiere version of the magazine will look at different perspectives of the Occupy Movement. Theses perspectives range from celebrity interviews (Interview Magazine concept) to analyses by lauded economists. Other perspectives juxtapose ideas of a homeless person against the, "1%". The online version of the magazine will also seek to introduce a new advertising model. It is the first that is intended to embed relevant ads into the content of articles.

Huffington Post Women Intern

Huffington Post Women is seeking an intern to work closely with the editor researching stories, writing quick posts, updating social media accounts, maintaining a calendar of upcoming books, TV, movies, etc, calling in books, assisting with basic photo research and resizing, and completing various other editorial tasks.

Qualification:
The candidate must be extremely web savvy and a frequent user of social media. The ideal candidate is a fast learner, maintains a personal blog, and knows Tumblr and/or StumbleUpon.

This is a spring internship at 40 hours / week at $10/hr.
