Our hands-on editorial intern will assist with day-to-day editorial research, brainstorming and pitching story ideas, writing and reporting, publishing stories in our content management system, and helping to manage our social media accounts.

Intern (credit required)

Interns will pitch and write breaking news, longer feature articles and analysis pieces for our weekly e-newsletter, weekly newspaper and monthly print magazine, all of which focus on commercial real estate. The internship is not an exercise in procuring lattes--on the contrary, myself and my colleagues make a point of avoiding assigning any administrative duties. This summer, for instance, each intern gotten more than 20 bylines online and in print.

Fall 2014 Editorial Internship

Maxim Magazine is seeking editorial interns to work 2 days a week during the Fall 2014 semester. Responsibilities include assisting editors with research, transcribing interviews, and generating ideas for the magazine.

Editorial interns who take initiative and demonstrate exceptional writing ability will also have opportunities to write for the magazine and the magazine’s website, Maxim.com. An ideal applicant is one who is highly
motivated, focused, and serious about pursuing a career in men’s interest magazines. Familiarity with Maxim and its unique voice is a huge plus.

Paid fall internship

TWC News - NY1 News Internship - Fall 2014

We offer opportunities to students who are motivated and eager to learn about and gain valuable experience in the broadcast environment. The following departments are looking for interns who will help plan, execute and coordinate various aspects of news media.

News Internships
• General News: Interns will work with assignment editors, photographers and news producers as they gather, research, write and produce the local news of the day. This internship is split between work in the field and the newsroom.

• Local Edition: Interns will work with NY1’s Queens and Staten Island reporters, anchors and researchers to produce local stories. These positions offer a mix of time in the newsroom and in the field.

• Political Unit: Interns will work with the political team (producers, reporters and writers) to produce NY1’s nightly political program Inside City Hall. Candidates with knowledge of local and national politics and government are preferred.

• Education: Intern will work with NY1’s Education Reporter helping to write, research, and produce local education stories. Candidates with knowledge of educational policy and city government are preferred.

• Transit: Intern will work with NY1’s Transit Reporter helping to write, research and produce stories about the city’s transit system. Candidates with knowledge of the transit system are preferred.

• NY1.com: Intern will work with the New Media team to write headlines, develop content, edit copy and create multimedia stories. There will also be opportunities to get hands-on experience creating photos and video for web and use social media tools like Twitter and Facebook to reach out to our viewers.

• NY1 Noticias: Interns will work with NY1 Noticias’ reporters, producers and writers to produce the content on our Spanish language news channel. These positions offer a mix of time in the newsroom and in the field. Must be bi-lingual.

• NY1 Noticias Pura Política: Interns will work with the Pura Política anchor and producer. They would be exposed to everything that goes into producing a weekly political talk show. Must be bi-lingual.

• The Call: Interns will have the opportunity to conduct “man on the street” interviews (with photographer) on the topic of the night, screen, log, and edit the interviews into sound bites, edit video clips, sort anchor scripts, run TelePrompter during production, and participate in editorial decisions for our live nightly call-in show.

FEATURES & SPORTS INTERNS
• Living Unit: Interns will work with reporters and producers who research, shoot and write NY1’s feature reports (including Arts, Health & Fitness, On Stage, Technology Report and Money Matters) and long-form special programming.

• One on One with Budd Mishkin: Interns will work with Budd Mishkin and his producer as they research, shoot and assemble long-form profiles of prominent New Yorkers.

• NY1 for You: Interns will assist producer and reporter on shoots, interview subjects, pitch story ideas, and research investigative and consumer stories.

• Sports: Interns will log sporting events, edit highlights, assist in the control room during live shows, attend sporting events and assist shooters in the field.

Interns at ELLE.com assist the editorial and production teams with a range of tasks that keep our website running smoothly. They help produce content and source assets for stories spanning the fashion, beauty, pop culture, health, and relationships beats. On a daily basis, they also compile news reports and pitch and write newsy stories; on a weekly basis, they attend our weekly pitch meeting and have the opportunity to write longer-lead, evergreen feature stories as well.

Web Intern

Oprah.com is seeking a hard-working, web-savvy and enthusiastic intern to join our staff this fall. This is a part-time, unpaid internship position. Duties will include production, photo research, market work, research for stories, social media, and brainstorming story ideas.

Applicants should be comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. They should be diligent managers of their own time and not afraid to ask questions.

A passion for journalism and for women’s magazines in particular, as well as enthusiasm about exploring the many creative opportunities involved in web journalism, are essential. Writing experience and strong research skills are a must. Web experience is a plus, but not necessary. Additionally, a sense of humor and diverse interests are welcome.
