Associate Editor of Audience Engagement

TIME is seeking an editor to help oversee its social media presence, SEO strategy, newsletter production and audience growth. This role would be responsible for growing and engaging TIME’s growing digital audience.

The editor will collaborate with writers and editors. Daily responsibilities will include packaging posts for social channels, using data analytics to develop new strategies and engaging the newsroom in best audience strategy practices. We expect candidates to be able to lead conversations around audience strategy and digital growth.

Experience:

The ideal candidate will have a journalism background and at least one year of professional experience in online journalism, preferably with branded social media accounts. S/he should be aware of digital media trends, able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, comfortable working collaboratively and eager to learn.

Responsibilities:

Manage and post to TIME’s Facebook, Twitter, LINE, Tumblr, Instagram, Pinterest and other social media accounts
Assist news editors in assigning stories and writing headlines for TIME’s audience on social media
Identify emerging trends, networks and ideas in the social media world
Follow breaking news and collaborate with news editors to promote stories
Develop TIME's voice and posting strategy based on short- and long-term data analysis and editorial goals
Train writers and editors on social media and SEO best practices
Grow TIME’s newsletter audience through editorial best practices and subscriber campaigns
Develop social media strategy for TIME’s biggest franchises and projects
Work with TIME's art and photo departments to choose imagery that drives interest

The Managing Editor:

Leads the platform’s editorial direction and content gathering operations, ensuring the platform is up-to-date and gives our users complete understanding of the Arctic
Leads the platform’s day-to-day operations with an operating philosophy that values coaching, management and News Deeply’s values
Coordinates and plans the platform’s content
Writes the weekly Executive Summary and contributes interviews, analyses an reporting as necessary
Works closely with News Deeply’s CCO and other departments (sales, marketing, editing, etc) to provide high levels of efficiency and quality in the finished product
Helps with the development and management of an Arctic Deeply community of experts who both use and contribute to the platform and events
Increases audience engagement and traffic to site by actively assisting with social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc)
Represents Arctic Deeply with professionalism at events
Regularly and actively contributes to an open sharing of ideas as we seek to perpetually improve our products

Qualifications:
Solid background (10 years+) in journalism, preferably at a major newspaper, website or magazine

The copy editor will be responsible for copy editing and proofreading multiple articles and social media posts daily, ensuring that our copy is error free.
