FounderMade is seeking a versatile, hard-working, and creative intern who is passionate about our brand to join our marketing team in New York. As a Marketing and PR Intern, you will assist with our marketing campaigns and outreach. During your internship you will work closely with your supervisor and have the opportunity to learn the inner workings of a company focused on the CPG space. All interns receive hands-on mentoring and training at our office in SoHo.

Internships are unpaid, and last for three to six months.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assisting with current marketing campaigns.
Researching and compiling media lists.
Phone and Email pitching.
Writing press releases.
Working with publicists of all levels.
Attending industry events on behalf of FounderMade.
Assisting with other special projects and events as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be in NYC or surrounding area.
Must be currently enrolled in college; recent grads (within one year) will also be considered.
Must have a MacBook you can bring with you to the office.
Familiarity with Apple Keynote required.
Energetic and creative.
Strong written and communication skills.
Ability to work 15-30 hours per week.

Innovative Technology in Criminal Justice Reform - Communications Intern

The Center is seeking a Communication Intern for Technology in the Criminal Justice Sector blog. Reporting to the Product Manager, the Communications Intern would be involved in helping to shape the conversations about technology’s intersection with the criminal justice system – including how it is used, impacts on people who are justice involved, and best practices. They would be responsible for editing written, audio, and video content; identifying interesting blogposts; assisting with interviewing subject matter experts; and helping to organize formal and informal convenings. The Communications Intern’s responsibilities will cover a broad array of technology topics. The Intern will also interact with policy-makers, program implementers, activists, community members, technologists, researchers, and vendors.

• Writing and copy-editing engaging blogposts
• Researching current trends, including collaborating with the Center’s program staff to identify new topics of conversation
• Editing of audio and video interviews
• Working with the Center’s communication staff as needed

• Curating blogposts from guest writers

Policy Research Intern

The Center for an Urban Future (CUF) seeks interns with experience in journalism or public policy research to support our work. Responsibilities can include extensive phone interviews, Web research, data analysis, and writing. Other duties include coordinating meetings with government officials and attending policy meetings.

Skills and attributes we seek are:
• Strong writing and oral communications skills
• Ability to synthesize ideas clearly and concisely
• Ability to conduct effective interviews over the phone and in person
• High level of competency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• At least some experience with public data sources like the US Census and the Bureau of Labor Statistics
• An interest in economic development, urban planning, workforce development, and higher education issues

We prefer current graduate students or those with advanced degrees in public policy, urban planning, journalism, economics, government, social science, or related fields, though we will also consider accomplished undergraduate students. Our internship program is very competitive and attracts talented undergraduate and graduate students from across the country and around the world.

You must be able to commit to at least 20 hours a week. We provide a small stipend at the end of the internship to help offset travel expenses. College credit is available where applicable.

Paid Journalism Management Intern

Unique opportunity for someone interested in broadcasting and HR/Management. The Director of the News Associate and Internship Programs is seeking a spring intern to help with multiple projects including creating website content, taking photos of interns and news associates for the sites, revamping the social media accounts, updating databases of former interns and news associates, and various other things. Must be social media savvy, a good writer, be creative, and be familiar with various websites and software that can increase office workflow. Can be given a task with limited parameters and lots of possibilities while keeping the end goal in mind and have the ability to be resourceful to get to that goal somewhat independently.

This internship is not eligible for credit.

Senior Content Specialist Internship

The Senior Content Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of content marketing initiatives. They lead the collection, production, and editing of website material to maintain and improve the quality of information provided for web property visitors.

They will work closely with the Marketing Strategy Director to develop content plans, high-quality engaging content. They will also work closely with the Senior SEO Specialist and Senior Social Media Specialist in development and implementation processes.

For the right candidate, there will be growth opportunities to build out their own team, who will help facilitate the following duties of the Senior Content Specialist position. Upon successful performance, this position has the opportunity to mentor entry-mid level specialists and strategists and act as a team lead to the Content department.

Position Responsibilities:
Oversees and manages the execution and monitoring of content plans
Provides thought-leadership and identifies opportunities, best-practices, tools and trends in the content marketing and publishing space
Helps write, curate, and plan content that is engaging, relevant, and user-friendly
Drives high-quality and relevant traffic on various web properties
Conducts content audits of existing web properties and competitor sites
Measures results from content marketing efforts using optimization and creative tools such as heat mapping software, Google Webmaster tools, Canva, etc.
Leverages blogs, outreach, influencers, and guest posting to push content
Uses analytics software (such as Google Analytics, BuzzSumo, SEMrush, AHREFs) to identify content opportunities and areas for improvement that align with strategic goals

Recommended Prerequisites:
Student of Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or other related field (or equivalent experience)
1+ years of hands-on experience in a Content Marketing or related position
Interest in new optimization techniques and a desire for constant experimentation
Must have strong written communication skills - attention to detail is a must
WordPress or other CMS experience required
Guest-posting, freelance, and blogger outreach experience is a plus
Experience with high-traffic websites preferred
Some web design, basic coding skills (HTML5, CSS), and demonstrated understanding of UX is preferred
