The successful candidate will report on economic, political and general news in a way that would connect the dots and make sense for Thomson Reuters internal and external customers.

This is a creative and challenging position requiring excellent news judgment, and the ability to report across borders is essential. He/She would write, edit and voice packages.

He/She should be equally comfortable covering a natural disaster, producing a diplomatic analysis and writing colorful stories on distinctive social, cultural and technological features to serve broadcast clients.

Communications Leadership Development Program

Web Specialist

The Web Specialist is responsible for liaising with various departments to oversee the content development and operations of Cravath’s website, as well as for monitoring the website’s performance, updating content and initiating new features.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Design and implement a strategy for GNG’s production department focusing on audience reach and impact.

Editorial Assistant

iDebate Press, an imprint of IDEA, Inc., is currently seeking a part-time temporary employee to write, edit, and help manage production of several book projects that provide background, arguments and resources.

The candidate will be responsible for writing introductions, arguments, and counterarguments for topics for a wide-range of topics, as well as working to organize book projects and coordinate with other team members to ensure smooth development and handover of projects. The candidate will also be asked to assist with writing and revising grant proposals.

They will work closely with the Publications Associate to ensure all completed work maintain the iDebate Press nonpartisan, research-driven mission, and will be required to write and revise material in a timely manner. Through this position, the candidate will learn how to write persuasive arguments on deadline, revise professional work fit for book publication, and hone research skills. The project will last approximately 15 weeks.

The candidate will be required to come into the office for 15 hours a week. The position pays $15 an hour. As your hours will be flexible, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with a nonprofit organization and/or in publishing before you graduate or if you are in graduate school. The position starts September 2nd and ends December 20th.

Responsibilities:

• Manage progress of projects assigned.

• Research and develop arguments for and against a wide range of current events topics.

• Write and revise objective and factually accurate entries that include impartial topic

introductions, points, and counterpoints to the topics assigned.

Emerging Voices Fellow

The aim of the Emerging Voices Fellowship is to diversify the pipeline of public intellectuals and policy journalists in American political debate. As part of our Emerging Voices Initiative, the fellowship provides one year of financial support, intellectual mentorship, media training, and deep integration with a professional communications platform which includes the Demos blog, PolicyShop, and our print, social and broadcast media activity.

The Emerging Voices Fellow will give voice to strong progressive values within Demos’ core areas of work: expanding the freedom to vote, addressing the role of money in politics, rebuilding pathways to the middle class, limiting corporate and financial sector power, and advancing racial equity.

Candidates should be first and foremost strong writers—with backgrounds in investigative journalism, criticism, feature writing, policy analysis, blogging or other commentary. In addition, candidates should demonstrate a strong grasp of the pace of political and policy debate and be capable of engaging at the appropriate speed. Candidates with demonstrable interest affecting change in under-represented communities, and with diverse social backgrounds, are especially encouraged to apply. This fellowship is dedicated to developing junior writers and thinkers, particularly those of color, in order to help them enter important public debates with a strong progressive voice.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Contributing regularly (2-4 posts a week) to Demos’ PolicyShop blog.
• Researching and writing commentary for media outlets on regular basis, and representing Demos in the media.
• Participating in the organization’s program work alongside Demos programmatic staff, as mutually agreed.
• Contributing to organization’s public events.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and qualities:

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, demonstrating a strong ability to research, analyze, and persuade the public on complex ideas.
