Since 1977, the National Journalism Center, a project of Young America's Foundation, has provided aspiring conservative journalists with the premier opportunity to learn the principles and practice of responsible reporting. The National Journalism Center combines 12 weeks of on-the-job training at a Washington, D.C.-based media outlet and once-weekly training seminars led by prominent journalists, policy experts, and NJC faculty.
The program matches interns with print, broadcast, or online media outlets based on their interests and experience. Interns spend an average of 30-35 hours per week gaining practical, hands-on journalism experience. Potential placements include the Washington Times, the Washington Examiner, C-SPAN, Fox News, and more.
Students will attend the NJC seminar one day a week, sharpening their writing and reporting skills and gaining a better understanding of media, society, and public policy, and the intersection between the three in Washington, D.C. and nationwide.
Opportunities: Internships are offered during the summer semester, five days a week.

An ideal PEOPLE intern is a resourceful, independent person who jumps right in and becomes part of the staff—someone with more than a passing familiarity with the lives of famous people, as well as an interest in current events and social issues.
The intern will report and quickly write online stories—and fact check and research stories for the weekly magazine, often under intense deadline pressure.
The intern should have worked at a campus publication or as an editorial intern—and should be a creative thinker, a self-starter, professional, resourceful and a team player. Strong writing skills are a must. The intern must also be enthusiastic and see the big picture but pay close attention to detail, too—a thinker and a doer. He/she must also like working in a fast-paced, news-driven environment and should feel comfortable using Twitter, Facebook and Instagram as reporting tools.
Because of the nature of news, some late evening and weekend work will be required on “closing” days. This internship opportunity is open to recent grads who are available to work a full-time schedule.

The Credibility Coalition (CredCo for short) is an effort to develop a standard for third-party markup of stories and their credibility to inform platforms and AI initiatives.
ALL WORK IS DONE REMOTELY.
We are working now on future rounds of testing data, and we’d really like your help with annotating articles for us. This data will lay the groundwork for further explorations of article credibility on the web that our group will conduct. In order to develop the data, we need your support in reviewing the articles and marking them up with a simple set of indicators.
Specifically, each annotator's responsibilities include:
Reading 50 articles (subject matter TBD). Different articles have different levels of credibility.
Reviewing definitions of a few indicators. For instance, we might ask you to look at an article and indicate if the article contains a clickbait headline. We’ll give you clear definitions of each indicator and how to rate them.
Marking up, on a table or another platform that we’ll give you access to, a simple set of indicators of the article’s credibility.
In return, we can offer the following in compensation:
We can pay a stipend with a ceiling of $150 for each annotator's efforts.
We can offer academic incentives (class credit, etc).
If you choose, we can credit your support if we publish the data.
We will be conducting future exercises very soon, and we expect each annotator's efforts to take about 15 hours. If you have any questions at all, please contact Dwight Knell, who is leading the efforts, at dwight@meedan.com.
