Editorial Intern, Complex News

Complex is looking for Editorial Interns to join our News Team for the summer semester. This position will give interns the opportunity to gain invaluable editorial skills and learn both web and print processes.

Candidates must enrolled in college, be able to commute to New York City and be available to work at least 2-3 days each week to be considered for this position.

Enrolled in college majoring in Journalism, English, Communications or a related field

Fall 2016 East Coast- Digital Insights and Analytics Intern, NBC News Digital

Role Summary:
This position will support digital insights initiatives for the NBC News Digital Group (specifically NBC News, TODAY and MSNBC). This role will collaborate with various teams across the brands to ensure best practices for search engine optimization and social media analytics, illustrate the health of the business, drive audience engagement and optimize product/editorial performance.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Perform in-depth analysis of website data to spot trends and provide data driven findings.
• Extract data from databases, analyze information, make concise recommendations and present ideas
• Facilitate projects that drive audience growth by improving search engine rankings.
• Hands-on optimization work, including content and keyword research projects.
• Conduct regular social media reporting and analysis identifying areas for improvement and change.
• Ability to produce ad hoc reports when requested

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Pursuing a degree in Business, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics or related field
• Working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
• Analysis and problem solving experience

Internship in Journalism and Italian American Affairs

The National Italian American Foundation and i-Italy have partnered to offer 2 internship opportunities for recent graduates interested in building the basis for a career in media while furthering their proficiency in the Italian language. This internship aims to give recent graduates a strong basis for their entry into the workforce and a robust first work experience on their resume. The internship will be part-time at the i-Italy headquarters in New York City with full Italian language immersion. Interns will report to i-Italy five days a week including some weekends and holidays. Interns will be provided a $1,000/month stipend. Duration of internship: 10 months.

Communications/Digital Media Intern

Specific duties may include:
Assist with management of the Child Trends website, including posting new content, reformatting content, applying tags, and reporting metrics
Write and edit documents to include PR reports, E-News articles, blogs, and news releases
Develop and post content to Child Trends’ social media channels, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn
Research media and blog coverage of Child Trends daily and enter in our media coverage log
Create and refine media lists using Cision software
Track and report on media impressions
Research and create an Excel database of organizations that would be interested in Child Trends reports with tabs to sort by specific topic areas
Report on monthly communication results
Assist with graphic and video projects

Food & Lifestyle editorial intern

People Magazine is looking for a Food & Lifestyle editorial intern who is ready to jump in and become part of the staff. An ideal People intern is a resourceful, independent person who has more than a passing familiarity with the lives of famous people, as well as an interest in current events and social issues. We are looking for an intern who has a sense of the flows and changes that come with putting out a weekly magazine, keeping up with a 24-hour news cycle online, and an eagerness to help around the office. This intern position will solely work within People’s Food & Lifestyle vertical that consists of food news, stars and chefs, cocktails & parties, expert tips and travel. The intern’s primary duties will be pitching, researching and reporting stories for People.com, fact-checking stories for the weekly magazine, often under intense deadline pressure, doing background research for both digital and magazine stories and attending events occasionally. This position will also have general office work including picking up food packages from messengers.

Social Media Intern
