Student Contributor

We’re looking for student contributors to have a vital role in helping buildout our publication.

Ideal candidates are highly ambitious, have a point of view, and able to contribute 1+ articles per week.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

- Pitching new ideas,
- Cover emerging trends and events,
- Conducting interviews, and
- Compile happenings within pop-culture.

Contributing Reporter

The job is a great way to get a foot in the door at a fast-paced, rapidly expanding news organization that is the go-to news source for the city’s top real estate, finance and investment professionals. The position requires working 80 hours per month, primarily in the first two weeks of the month. It involves writing and reporting for the magazine’s regular monthly sections, including the Q&A and national market report. There will also be opportunities to contribute originally reported stories for the magazine and website as well as to freelance longer pieces outside of business hours.

We’re especially interested in personal style, personal essays, cultural criticism with innovative, unique and diverse points of view, perspectives from young, old, and millennials alike, smart articles with original story, reporting, and visuals. We love articles that focus on creativity, things that bring people together whether it’s living the dream, educating readers on the latest trends (in any lifestyle community), the search for optimism, figuring out how to be an entrepreneur, positive body image, the crazy things that happen in life, finding a rare discovery, great places to visit, hole in the walls you have to try, movies you can’t live without, quick fashion tips for a guy or gal on the go, charity events, fun adventures, unique apparel, unique art, gorgeous photography, etc. You can tell us about a celebrity that inspires you and why, a random stranger that changed your life, and anything that might inspire the world to take a closer look.

We want honest, heartfelt articles and we are always looking for a new voice to share.

What’s NOT right for us?

Negativity (we hate that), Tabloid drama (not our thing), Anything that would tear someone down (because we believe in unifying).

Right now, we’re not looking for pieces of fiction, poems, screenplays, or plays (we love them, and maybe we’ll get to that soon … just not yet).

Who we’re looking for …

Funny, honest, smart, creative people with strong writing and grammar skills and the ability to be clever, inventive and really peak our interests who’d love to see their writing published on a large scale – plus, who doesn’t love to be discovered?!

Photographers, Artists and illustrators who want to share their work with the ATOD Magazine global community are also what we love fostering and supporting.

All contributors are given access to very high end events, including NYFW, private exhibitions, James Beard tastings, and the like. Professionalism is key.

Freelance Writer

We’re looking for freelance writers who are interested in covering the intersection of business and culture. Writers will conduct interviews with top entrepreneurs and business owners, cover emerging trends, and pitch ideas for white papers. We’re looking for contributors who are comfortable submitting at least 1 piece per week.

College Contributor

On November 12th, Yahoo News is hosting a live-streamed conference - Digital Democracy: The Yahoo Conference on Politics and Technology - that will explore how technology has changed elections and politics with some of today’s most important political operatives and policy makers.

Attend the event live at Drake University (visit here for event details), tune-in to our live coverage of the event on November 12th or watch on demand starting November 13th and create 1 (one) original piece of reporting based on what you viewed. You must watch at least 1 full panel. Beginning November 12, all content will be viewable at: http://yhoo.it/digitaldemocracy. Submissions may be be in the form of an essay (no longer than 1,500 words), photo essay (no longer than 1,500 words and 20 photos), or video (no longer than 3 minutes in length).

Submissions should be emailed to CollegeContributor@yahoo.com along with your full name, date of birth, college, major, and school e-mail address. For large files a free file sharing site such as DropBox may be used. All submissions must be received before midnight EST on December 1, 2015.

Contributing Writer - Techlicious.com

Techlicious is looking for bright, energetic contributing writers who have a passion for technology, and the ability to communicate that passion to a wide range of readers, both techies and non-techies, alike. You should have strong knowledge in at least one area of technology (photography, social media, mobile apps, etc.) or a specific lifestyle vertical (health, cooking, etc.) and how technology can be used within that vertical to save money, save time and make readers’ lives better.

Key Responsibilities
• Pitch article ideas and brainstorm interesting and creative new content ideas with Techlicious editors
• Contribute regular news, product reviews and advice stories for publication on Techlicious.com and potential syndication to Techlicious media partners
• Write clean content that clearly communicates to readers your story’s key message points, gather and edit supporting images, and input stories and images into the Techlicious content management system for final editing and publishing
• Promote content through your social media channels to broaden audience engagement and create loyalty for your coverage on Techlicious
Desired Skills & Experience
