Reporter / Freelancer

We are looking for a freelance reporter to cover art and antiques events in and around New York City (auctions, shows, and other events).

Freelance Contributor

We are looking for established freelance writers, bloggers and journalists to contribute to an established online content platform - a Webby Award-winning lifestyle site featuring videos, blog posts and long-form features around topics ranging from parenting and green living to science, technology and business.

Contributor position

PolicyMic.com is looking for a highly skilled and politically-engaged contributor to work with the editorial team of our New York City-based start-up.

PolicyMic is an online platform for high-quality political discussion and debate aiming to become the first mainstream news site to meaningfully engage young people in politics. Our platform is driven by a crowd-sourced game system that allows readers to become writers over time. Think Twitter meets the Economist.

We’re looking for individuals with a passion for journalism and politics especially those who are looking to learn the hard skills required to become an online editor for a leading new media publication.

In The Fray Magazine | Call for Submissions | December 2011: The
Kindness of Strangers

Recently in China, bystanders walked by after a toddler was struck by
two vans -- whose drivers then drove away. Her death caused
international soul-searching over the callousness and inhumanity of
modern society. In The Fray wants to approach this topic through a
more optimistic lens: the kindness of strangers. Tell us about those
who have touched other people and made a difference -- even if in
passing. Describe your encounters with good Samaritans as you were
traveling, going through an ordeal, or just living everyday life.
Share with us the kinds of stories that can turn a cynic's heart.

We are currently accepting pitches for articles that relate to this
theme or more generally to the magazine’s mission of understanding
other people and encouraging empathy and tolerance. We are looking for
profiles, interviews, reportage, personal essays, op-eds, travel
writing, photo essays, artwork, videos, multimedia projects, and
review essays of books, film, music, and art. If interested, please
email submissions@inthefray.org with a well-developed, one-paragraph
pitch for your proposed piece as soon as possible -- along with up to
three links to your previous work -- NO LATER THAN DECEMBER 14, 2011.
All contributors are urged to review our submissions guidelines at
http://inthefray.org/submit.

As usual, we are open to submissions on other topics as well. Please
see the instructions at http://inthefray.org/submit for instructions
on how to send us a query.

We are also looking for writers, photographers, and artists who can
take care of specific assignments, including interviews, book and film
reviews, and accompanying photos and artwork. If interested, please
follow the instructions at the bottom of http://inthefray.org/submit
to join our contributors mailing list.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Writer/Editor for Fast-Growing Investment Research Publication

We are looking for a writer/editor to help us with our upcoming issue. The job would include helping us to organize our research materials, outline, draft, and edit the profile. In short, we are looking for someone to help us make the entire research and writing process more efficient.

The ideal candidate is interested in investing and hedge funds, comfortable working in a startup , and willing to work on a freelance basis initially, although our hope is that the role will grow into a full-time position. We can offer competitive compensation for an initial engagement expected to last several months.

Multimedia Reporter/Freelance

We are looking for freelance multimedia reporters to cover all kind of issues that interest the Latino communities around the country. (Need reporters in New York City, Dallas, Miami, Chicago, LA, and more... ) Ideally reporters will submit about one story per week. Reporters will be paid per story.

Freelance Contributor

Freelance contributors are the backbone of our editorial calendar, producing the bulk of the journalism that keeps our site going.

We like stories that 1) focus on people of African descent, 2) have narrative elements, 3) appeal to audiences citywide and 4) explain the intellectual context of the news.

The stories can be news features, profiles, investigations, previews of art and culture events, and reported on any platform. Those most likely to receive our approval will be less than 1,000 words or 2-3 minutes of video or audio. But we aren't ideologically opposed to longer pieces, and would consider those that are several thousand words long or the multimedia equivalent.
