ASSISTANT PRODUCER, THE TAKEAWAY (Part-Time; 25/hrs)

The Assistant Producers will be responsible for operating all broadcast audio equipment associated with the live production of the show. The hires will be instrumental in maneuvering the fast-paced and high-intensity environment of a live national radio show. Under the direction of the Technical Director, the assistant producers will play a significant role in the sound and technical aspects of the show. Much of the work on the program will take place during early morning hours.

POSITION: Assignment Editor
PRIMARY FUNCTION: AE manages assignments, deals with logistics, responsible for newsgathering and disseminating news assignments to correspondents in the United States and overseas. We're looking for a consultant to serve as production editor. Responsibilities may include:

• Posting stories to the website through our Drupal-based content management system.
• Copy editing and fact checking online stories before publication.
• Writing headlines and display type, selecting and cropping photos, deciding story placement, and otherwise ensuring the quality and timeliness of our homepage and other key aspects of onearth.org.
• Editing and production of audio slideshows, videos, photo galleries, and other multimedia features, and promoting onearth.org content through social media.

ASSOCIATE PRODUCER, THE TAKEAWAY (Part-Time; 30/hrs) for WNYC & WQXR

The Associate Producer will be responsible for writing 8 of the show's daily 16 live newscasts. The newscasts are usually between 90 seconds and 2 minutes in length and they are spread out- around one every 15 minutes-across the 4 hours we are live on air each morning. The job requires strong news-writing, in a live newsroom situation, experience. The successful candidate will have several years experience writing newscasts in a busy newsroom environment. The hire will be trained in The Takeaway's news hub and become a part of a small team. The hours are 4:00am to 10:00am daily (weekdays only). The job also includes pulling tape (audio) from various sources to include in the newscasts. We will show you how to do this as part of your training.

All members of the morning show team are expected to be self-starters and to keep up with a wide variety of news sources; be able to think and act quickly; and thrive in a collaborative, deadline-driven work environment.
