Position Summary:
The Editorial Intern will support the Communications and Creative team in its efforts to cover our work in seven countries where we work and amplify the voices of girls around the world. Assembly, Malala Fund’s digital publication and newsletter, is a platform for girls and young women to share their thoughts, challenges and accomplishments — and for all of us to learn about this new generation of leaders. The Editorial Intern will research, write and edit original content for Assembly and provide administrative support to the Communications and Creative team. The ideal candidate is a highly organised individual with great interpersonal skills and can thrive in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, creative environment.
This is a paid 12-week internship working out of Malala Fund’s New York office. Applicants should be able to commit to working between 24-32 hours per week during the fall 2019 term. Graduate and undergraduate applications welcome.
Responsibilities and tasks:
- Research and write a variety of content for Assembly, Malala Fund’s digital publication and newsletter
- Participate in editorial meetings to brainstorm and generate ideas for stories and features
- Reach out to potential contributors
- Maintain communications databases to track content and outreach
- Assist in cataloging photos and other assets
- Other administrative duties as assigned
- Translate posts (if fluent in a second language)
Qualifications:
- Previous internship or work experience
- Demonstrated interest in communications or journalism
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with previous experience in copyediting and knowledge of AP style

UnionDocs Fall Internship
Uniondocs Fall Internship
UnionDocs is seeking three interns with a variety of strengths and interests from September–December. This volunteer position presents the opportunity to explore the operations of a small non-profit arts space and community.
Ideal candidates study or work in film production or theory, with a vested interest in nonfiction media, programming, events, production, and storytelling. As a small nonprofit with DIY roots, interns work across a wide variety of roles just like the core staff. Interns also receive a free pass to all UnionDocs events!
Responsibilities Include:
– Telling the story of our public weekend events through video, audio, photography and text, including an active role in media management for UnionDocs’ forthcoming podcast (an interest in audio is a plus!)
– Participating in event planning, setup, management and reporting
– Managing updates to UnionDocs.org, including publishing event listings, managing box-office sales, and writing updates to support our web presence
– Marketing support including writing, research and graphic design to promote events, workshops and professional development programs
– Outreach via social media and within the community
– Administrative duties as needed
Time Commitment:
– 1-2 days per week (11am-6pm) + 1 evening screening per week

Center for Cognitive Neurology Communications Student (paid)

Advocacy Intern (Fall 2019)
Scholars at Risk (SAR) seeks a dedicated, detail-oriented intern with excellent writing and research skills to join SAR’s Advocacy team for Fall 2019. This intern may be based in SAR’s New York City office or based remotely. This position reports to SAR’s Senior Advocacy Officers. Internships are unpaid.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Researching allegations of attacks on higher education communities, and drafting reports on verified attacks for SAR’s Academic Freedom Monitoring Project
Monitoring cases of imprisoned scholars, and writing case updates for staff and our network
Drafting letters of appeal on behalf of imprisoned scholars or higher education communities under attack, and – with Advocacy staff – sending out action alerts to our network
Drafting social media relating to imprisoned scholars and attacks on higher education communities
Support the rollout of SAR’s annual Free to Think report
Working with Advocacy staff to update content on SAR’s website
