Editorial Intern

AdHoc is seeking interns to work in our Brooklyn office.

All candidates must live in the New York area and be available 12-20 hours per week starting January and ending in May. We offer internships in three different concentration areas: events, editorial, and marketing. (Only editorial internships are eligible for credit.)

Editorial internship tasks include assisting with proofreading, fact-checking, and research for our quarterly print zine; contributing artist interviews and short write-ups to our online publication; building posts in our website; and help with social media and zine distribution.

All intern candidates should have excellent research skills, a laptop, and familiarity with the local music scene. The ability to gain school credit for the internship is strongly preferred but not required.

Social Media Manager

As a social media manager you will be responsible for curating content and publish quality materials on the company's social media channels. The work includes defining strategy for publications, creating creative content for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn to establish Tatch tone of voice in the field.

Press Intern

The New York City Comptroller’s Office is seeking a Press Intern for its fast-paced, deadline-driven communications team. Press Office staff serve as the Comptroller's official spokespeople, arrange press conferences and interviews, write background documents, and handle communications for the office. Some exposure to and/or familiarity with communications/press office operations is preferred and so is the ability to work well under time constraints. Most importantly, we are looking for exceptional people with an unwavering willingness to work hard, accept challenges and learn. This role is perfect for communications or public policy major looking to build their experience and exposure in a fast-paced press office.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Maintain the internal press calendar;

• Support press staff for announcements/press conferences;

• Compile clips email;

• Draft first round of “lower priority” press releases, eblasts, and advisories;

• Monitor social media/draft tweets; and,

• Perform other related assignments as may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree program.

PREFERRED SKILLS IN ADDITION TO MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Successful candidates will have excellent communication and research skills and relevant education and experience;

• Must demonstrate responsiveness, reliability, and be able to handle several projects simultaneously in a fast paced and deadline-driven environment;

• Exposure/familiarity with cutting-edge social media techniques is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with programs like Photoshop and InDesign. Photography and graphic design skills are a plus;

• Excellent writing, editing, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills (includes Microsoft Office Suite proficiency) expected.

Government Affairs Intern

The National Committee is launching a new Government Affairs Internship! To fill this part-time position, we are looking for a graduate student or recent master’s program graduate interested in political science, government affairs, and media. The internship is unpaid, but commuting costs are reimbursed. Depending on the candidate, this position could be filled remotely.

Internship responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

-Tracking and reporting on policy developments on the Hill, especially in regard to congressional foreign policy toward China
-Staying informed on China-related news and current events
-Assisting in our efforts to engage both Members of Congress and congressional staffers we have taken to China, as well as facilitating outreach to prospective program participants
-Drafting an e-newsletter/materials directed at D.C. and non-D.C. congressional staffers
-Conducting targeted research on subnational government affairs

Qualifications

-Academic and professional background in China studies, political science, international relations, journalism, media studies, or other relevant field.
-Excellent research and writing skills, and attention to detail
-Knowledge of U.S.-China relations
-Ability to work a minimum of 8-10 hours a week
-Preference will be given to those students or recent graduates in a China studies, political science, or journalism master’s program
-Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese is a plus

Production/Post Production Intern

Be part of the fastest growing sports channel worldwide!
CSI Sports is seeking post production interns, to train within our digital media environment. Content we craft airs domestically on Regional Sports Networks, Internationally on our 24/7 linear channel, and digitally on our website. Individuals should have a basic knowledge of Adobe Premier, Photoshop and After Effects. Interns will be exposed to media management, MAMs, DAMs and LTO archive. A creative eye, love of sports and eagerness to learn, are all required to be part of our fast-paced team.

PR Intern

1.Fluency in English and Chinese a prerequisite.
2. Work closely with IDG Capital’s PR team in the U.S. and China to help build international public awareness for firm.
3. Build and manage media lists.
4. Monitor Chinese and English-language media coverage of the firm on a daily basis, including many of IDG Capital more than 700 portfolio companies.
4. Compile news roundups for both internal and external reference.
5. Manage U.S.-based Twitter Facebook accounts.
6. Help draft press releases in English and Chinese for international distribution.
7. Monitor and develop methods to optimize IDG Capital web traffic.
8. The major of the work can be done offsite. We require the intern to spend only 1/2 day per week at the IDG Capital office in NYC.

Communications Intern, Fall 2018

The communications internship is ideal for a student seeking a hands-on opportunity to work on media relations, online communications, and research and publications. The intern will work as an integral parts of PHR’s communications team to help with materials and messaging for PHR’s mission and work.

The communications intern will attend departmental and staff meetings, as well as regular learning and social events with other interns and staff from PHR to round out his/her learning experience and complement PHR-provided career mentoring.

PHR internships are unpaid. Candidates may be able to arrange academic credit, and should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements.

Responsibilities
• Track relevant news stories on human rights violations around the world.
• Research, write, proofread, and copy-edit social media, blog posts, web content, newsletter articles, press releases, and other communications materials.
• Run reports and use to track website traffic and online ad campaigns.
• Track PHR’s media coverage and compile and organize media lists.
• Research journalists and outlets covering topics and regions related to PHR’s work.
• Assist in maintaining and updating the PHR website.

Qualifications and Experience
• Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program of study specializing in communications, journalism, international relations, or other relevant major
• Interest in communications work in a nonprofit setting
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
• Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a project from start to finish
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally in a multi-faceted organization
• Mature judgment, strong sense of integrity, confidentiality, and capacity to work with minimal supervision
• Sense of humor a plus

Location and Hours
• The intern will be based in PHR’s New York City office in midtown Manhattan.
• This unpaid internship maybe full-time or part-time, commencing in September with at least a 10-week commitment.

PR intern

Bilingual fluency (English-Mandarin) required. This 10-hour-to- 20-hour-a-week internship begins November 1, 2018 and ends January 31, 2019. The intern's primary responsibility will be to weekly update the English-language news section on the IDG Capital website at http://en.idgcapital.com. Some additional PR projects are also possible - all involving English-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-English translation. The job reports to the firm's PR department in Beijing and a U.S.-based media consultancy.

Office Assistant

We are looking for an undergraduate student who can share the office assistant internship with another student. The position, which is a maximum of 20 hours a week and pays $20 an hour, is not eligible for journalism internship credits. It entails assisting the communications unit with research related to the website, sending emails, writing blog articles, and general assistance as needed. It also requires preparing information for Board meetings, scanning and filing grant-related documents, monitoring entrance to the office for employees and visitors, tracking and ordering kitchen supplies, mailings, and general errands. Appropriate business casual dress is required.
