Democracy Now! Internships are paid, 20 hour per week, temporary work placements to help students, people early in their careers and career changers to gain entry-level skills and experience in the fields of outreach, social media, education, fundraising, translation and archiving in a non-profit setting. All internships take place at our Manhattan studio where we produce our daily TV and radio news hour.

Democracy Now! staff provide one-on-one mentorship and supervision to help Interns maximize their educational experience. Where possible, Democracy Now! will provide assistance to Interns requesting academic or work-study credit.

The Internship program is offered in two sessions per year. Interns work with our Archive, Democracy Now! en Español, IT, Education, Outreach & Development and Social Media departments. Candidates interested in opportunities with our Production department should apply for our Fellowship Program.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have completed a high school diploma, GED or equivalent and must have a valid US work authorization.

Data/web development intern

The Tampa Bay Times data team is looking for fantastic young data journalists, web designers and news-minded hackers to be interns or fellows with us in 2016.

Our seven-person team analyzes data to inform and improve the world. We also use web development to experiment with better ways to tell news stories online. And we write computer code that helps our traditional newsroom do impactful journalism in a digital era — in both how we find stories and how we present them.

Our interns tackle big, ambitious projects as full-fledged members of the team. The intern who started here in January spent the last 10 months analyzing data and building graphics to show what happened to black children when our schools resegregated. The intern who started in June has rewritten much of our longform-story infrastructure, learned to both analyze data and make 3D charts, and shared bylines on front-page stories about presidential fundraising.

Our next intern could be a great reporter who finds watchdog stories in spreadsheets. Or a web designer / graphics maven with innovative ideas about digital storytelling. Or a statistics / computer science student who wants to use those skills to inform the public. You don’t have to be a journalist right now. You do have to want to be one.

You must have skill at data reporting, web development, infographics or statistics. Aside from that, we have one main criteria: You’re already great at one thing. You want to be great at more.

Coming here means joining a newsroom filled with young talent and seasoned veterans willing to mentor. You get to live by the beach and cover Florida, America’s most divine state for news, where a the mayoral race being decided with a deck of cards was the second-craziest thing that happened last week.

We’re offering three-month internships at $450 a week, dates flexible. For the right candidate we’d consider a six-month fellowship at a higher salary.

Editorial Internship, AS/COA Online

Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA) seeks a current undergraduate or graduate student, recent graduate, or freelancer for an editorial internship working with the content of its website, www.as-coa.org, as well as providing support with social media and multimedia content. This internship requires strong writing and copyediting skills, and interest in or experience with online media. Intern assignments include, but are not limited to: researching, writing, editing, and copyediting; photo research and editing; authoring social media; uploading content; and assisting with website updates and administrative tasks.

This position can be pursued as a paid internship. The internship will ideally begin in the fall of 2015 and requires a commitment of 20 hours a week.

Key areas of focus will be:
• Assisting with updating, writing, editing, and posting content for the site. This includes writing blog posts and explainers, contributing to infographics, and supporting production of other content on news affecting the Americas.
• Supporting social media efforts
• Copyediting and factchecking content across the website
• Posting videos or podcasts of events and other multimedia content
• Helping with necessary administrative tasks
• Working in conjunction with the web team to build on and implement digital strategy to promote the programs and publications of AS/COA

Qualifications
The candidate should be able to balance multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment under deadline pressure. Skills and qualifications include:

• Excellent English-language writing skills with a working knowledge of Spanish and/or Portuguese; knowledge of Latin America highly preferred
• Experience in the field of new media, journalism, multimedia, or publishing; Copyediting and factchecking skills a huge plus
• Proficiency and experience working with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) and their use as marketing tools
• Ability to work with Adobe Creative Suite a plus
• Experience with updating web content using a content management system preferred

Web Editorial Intern

Robb Report has an exciting opportunity for an Editorial Intern in the New York office for its rapidly growing website, RobbReport.com. The RobbReport.com Editorial Intern will work with the RobbReport.com Editors to write brief online synopses of luxury-industry press releases. This position is a paid internship and will require as many as 15 hours per week for 3 to 6 months.

The ideal candidates will be able to write quickly and efficiently, with little to no grammar or spelling errors, while retaining the most pertinent facts included in press releases. Ideal candidates will also be extremely organized and have the ability to excel in the fast-paced environment of a daily online news organization. All candidates, regardless of prior experience, will be required to take a timed writing test.

Editorial internship (digital media)

Video Intern for Bustle.com

Bustle is looking for a paid video intern to wear many hats as a production assistant, shooter, and editor.

Applicants must have some production experience (journalism experience is a plus) and must be willing to work with multiple cameras, including the Canon C100 and 5D Mark III. Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro/the Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

You'll definitely be conceptualizing, shooting and editing videos, but a good part of the job involves assisting our producers and videographers. Tasks may involve picking up supplies, holding reflectors, carrying equipment, etc.

Intern, CNBC Long Form Unit

Intern Purpose & Responsibilities:
The CNBC Long Form Programming Unit produces original documentaries in addition to overseeing the outside productions of acquired programs. This fall there will be an opportunity to assist on projects at different stages of production from pre-production planning and research, to fieldwork, post-production and marketing. Interns will assist producers and editors on documentary projects, and social media marketing campaigns. We get our interns involved in the process as much as possible.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Research
Developing story ideas

Archival research
