FINS.com, a new career-focused site from The Wall Street Journal, is looking for an editorial FINtern to start in late February. It's an exciting place within Dow Jones and feels more like a web startup than a large media organization -- but with the clout and resources of a large media organization. This is a paid internship. As an editorial intern you'll have the opportunity to work with and learn from Mashable editors in Mashable's New York City Headquarters. Responsibilities include research, fact checking, copy editing and writing.

Editorial Intern

We're seeking a writer intern with copy-editing experience to join our editorial staff in Spring 2011! Ideal candidates should be familiar with Wikipedia-style formatting, in the current with popular blogs & internet community sites.

Some of the main responsibilities include copy-editing and verifying entries made by site users, writing new entries to our extensive database, as well as researching topical memes, histories and associated media.

This is a full-time paid internship at our SoHo (NYC) office. A minimum of a two month commitment during the months of February - May will be required.

Specific Skills:

• Strong copy-editing skills, previous experience in online publishing.
• Basic HTML skills, working knowledge in image-editing software like Photoshop.
• Ability to multi-task across the site and to prioritize with minimal direction.
• Ability to follow up with editors to ensure accurate and timely publication

Reporter Researcher Internship with Stipend

The New Republic (TNR) is looking for reporter-researchers for its 2011-2012 program. Job duties include reporting, researching, writing, and fact-checking for TNR's print magazine and TNR Online; as well as assisting with web production and performing occasional clerical tasks. Reporter-researchers work closely with writers and editors, and are strongly encouraged to write articles. Most reporter-researchers finish their program with a substantial portfolio of clips and have gone on to work almost everywhere in journalism—including TNR itself. The year-long job will begin in summer 2011 and will include a stipend.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and resourceful, with strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills and an interest in magazine-style journalism. Previous experience in both print and online media is helpful, as is a passion for and familiarity with food. Responsibilities include:
- Working closely with Atlantic senior editor Corby Kummer and Food Channel producer Daniel Fromson to prepare 5+ articles per day for publication, including copy editing, formatting articles according to the Food Channel’s style guidelines, coding pages and slide shows in basic HTML, and finding and editing photos
-Growing our social media presence by aggregating food news and blog posts from around the Web and writing engaging, witty tweets for our Today’s Specials Twitter feed
-Promoting Food Channel articles using social media (Twitter, Facebook, Stumbleupon, etc.)
-Working closely with the site’s editors on assorted research projects
-Depending on the interests and abilities of the Fellow, more substantial editing of articles and opportunities to write for both the Food Channel and other parts of TheAtlantic.com
