Research Assistant Intern

The Financial Services Volunteer Corps (FSVC) is looking for a highly motivated individual to assist in conducting research for a book that will describe the organization’s work over the past 32 years. Founded at U.S. Presidential initiative in 1990, FSVC’s mission is to deliver cutting-edge technical assistance to strengthen financial sectors in developing countries and thereby improve the lives of people in the countries where we work. We deliver this assistance mostly by recruiting senior-level financial experts to serve as volunteers on short-term missions.

What You'll Do:
Among other tasks, you will be responsible for researching key financial and political events that took place since the 1990s, including global financial crises and events in specific countries where FSVC has operated. Other tasks include organizing historical paper archives to facilitate research, reviewing and editing drafts of book chapters, preparing footnotes and references, and preparing interview questions. For this project, you will work closely with FSVC’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other FSVC staff, as needed.

Department
The Communications Department is responsible for developing a coherent voice and delivering clear public messages to inform both US and international audiences of MSF, its field activities and the humanitarian principles that underpin them; to raise awareness about the plight of the populations we serve; to promote public communication aimed at exposing and describing the field reality, including dilemmas and challenges; and to garner public understanding for our advocacy messages related to field operational concerns and the Access Campaign, via the media, print and digital channels , public awareness and advocacy campaigns, conferences, etc.

Project
The Communications Department of Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières works to expand awareness of the humanitarian crises and endemic health problems in developing countries that our medical teams address in the field. Public awareness is built through three primary means: active and reactive presswork; publications produced in-house, including our quarterly newsletter and website; and public events activities such as interactive exhibits, speaking events, film screenings, and conferences, and the creation and distribution of teaching tools.

The Press Intern will work closely with the Press Officer and Communications Assistant, offering day-to-day research support and meeting project-based needs as they arise. As a valued member of the Communications department, the Press Intern will be centrally involved in the department's attempts to bring MSF's advocacy messages into the media. He or she will have ample opportunities to learn about public relations through direct experience and humanitarian medical aid through osmosis. This position is ideal for a student interested in both humanitarian aid and public relations or journalism. The Intern will assist to lessen the workload of the communications staff while providing a practical learning experience to a student interested in humanitarian aid and advocacy and public relations.

Tasks
The Press Intern will be expected to perform the following tasks:
• Media research and daily monitoring of coverage (30%)
• Updating and maintaining the press office's media contacts (30%)
• Supporting media projects as they arise in response to developing humanitarian news stories (helping to organize press conferences, etc.) (20%)

Social Media Paid Intern

We are looking for a person with prior experience in social media skilled in managing social platforms like Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to contribute to the upkeep of the Critical Care Research Group’s social media pages in an effort to enhance our online presence. Students will also update the official research website and present relevant new scientific discoveries on consciousness and death.

The pay is $15/hour.

Summer Internship Opportunity at IEPS-Brazil

The internship program will select undergraduate (last semesters) or master's students in the areas of communication and media to carry out research and implement projects that aim to improve health policies in Brazil. The selected candidates will work on the project for a period of 10 to 14 weeks between May and August.

This is an unpaid position.

The intern will focus on: a) studying how health policy coverage happens in selected regions of the world (selection to be made in conjunction with supervision); b) map health topics of interest and how they are represented in the media; c) map how coverage is effective on analog channels compared to digital ones, building a multiplatform map (print, media, TV, radio, social networks, digital channels, podcasts, etc.); d) compare media coverage of selected countries with Brazilian media practices; and e) prepare comparative communication studies to be designed in conjunction with supervision. The Internal Communications Intern will be part of the global Internal Communications team to help create, edit, and promote firm news and events that drive an exceptional colleague experience globally. Looking for an intern to help operate a new YouTube channel geared towards millennials and Gen-Xers, especially in the Chinese-Americans demographic. The channel, 2ND Gen, just launched February of 2021. The channel has 18k subscribers and growing. Our parent company, Ming Jing news, has 200k subscribers.

The channel has 4 types of shows—a 5-minute animated explanatory video showing how America works, a companion video to explain in depth the animated video, a weekly live show discussing current events and the audience-favorite, which is interviews featuring prominent members of the Asian-American community.
